To have a gaming laptop

Just like many other young boys of his age, 14-year-old Chin Hock is an active young boy who loves sports and games. However, he was bed-ridden most of the time since diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in early 2015. He then had to undergo a bone marrow transplant in June 2016. However, he was all smiles when he knew that he could have a special “wish day” out with his family and friends.

On a pleasant Saturday afternoon, Make-A-Wish Malaysia with the help of volunteers brought Chin Hock and his family out for the day. To their surprise, the Selangor princess Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who is also the patron of Make-A-Wish Malaysia was there to join them for a scrumptious lunch at Paya Serai Restaurant, Hilton Petaling Jaya. They had a great time getting to know each other.

The highlight of the day was when Tengku Zatashah presented Chin Hock his ultimate wish – the green gaming laptop! Everyone present was overjoyed by this delightful surprise as they thought that it was only a lunch get together with the princess. Chin Hock couldn’t stop smiling upon receiving his brand new laptop. He said, “Now I can use this laptop to assist me in studying and also to play games!”

Later, they were brought to an arcade centre in a local mall. Chin Hock and his siblings were all amazed by the variety of games available there. They immediately started with basketball as it is Chin Hock’s favourite sport previously when he was able to play outdoors. To our surprise, Chin Hock outplayed all his siblings, cousin, and even his parents in most of the games – basketball, motor and car racing! What a talented young man.

Before bidding farewell, Chin Hock and his adorable brothers treated our volunteers with the candies from the candy machine. They said, “it was a sweet day, just like these sweets!” Chin Hock thanked everyone that made his dream come true. We hope that this wonderful experience will be able to motivate Chin Hock to remain strong and high spirited.

Make-A-Wish Malaysia would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the participants of the Angkor Wat Marathon, Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Zatashah, and Mr Tan San Chuan for your incredible support in making Chin Hock’s wish come true.
