To have an ASUS Transformer

8-year-old Syazira has Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that starts in certain very early forms of nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus. (The term neuro refers to nerves, while blastoma refers to a cancer that affects immature or developing cells).

While battling with her illness, Syazira has learned to appreciate all that life has to offer. Being an active outdoor person, Make-A-Wish chose to arrange a nature day out with a family picnic at Zaini’s Guest House, Janda Baik near Sungai Benus.

At one point, Syazira’s wish may have to be postponed as she was still undergoing treatment just before her wish day, but miraculously her doctor gave the “green light” for her to proceed with the arrangements from Make-A-Wish Malaysia. She had looked forward to her wish day with a strong spirit!

On the day itself, the volunteers arranged some fun games and activities for Syazira and her siblings, such as Egg Tossing, Candy Balloons Piñata, as well as a Hulla Hoop Competition.  Syazira and her siblings even had a quick dip at a shallow pool on the side of the river.  After a BBQ lunch, we presented Syazira and her siblings some special gifts as keepsakes for the day. Syazira was so excited when we handed her a new ukulele. However, we had a surprise for her as her ultimate wish was for a brand new laptop with a specific model in mind. She had wanted the laptop to facilitate her for educational purposes, especially in mathematics. Towards the end of the day, we presented the laptop model that she had wished for and her face lit up with glee as her wish had now become a reality.

The smiles on her face is a memory that we will never forget! We believe that the memories from Syazira’s wish experience will continue to offer her and her family hope and happiness for a long time.
