Amazing! Fantastic! Best Ball! …..these are the phrases uttered by our sponsors and guests who attended WishBall 2015.
Our Ball was indeed a success. If you recall, up to mid-October, we were still facing problems with table sales, donations and sponsorships. With help from Board members, volunteers and also our Patron, we were soon flooded with table booking forms and donations. YOU made the difference. You ensured we continue to bring hope, strength and joy to the children we serve.
To Volunteers, the Committee, Board members and Patron, I thank you for the great teamwork and long hours poured into the planning of this annual event. I recently learned the phrase “Over Manage” – a word synonymous with the success of Disneyland. “Over manage” as opposed to micromanage is to ensure even the smallest details are not overlooked. The Wishball committee over managed as best as we could – even debating the type and height of flower decorations on each table!
Like all big events, we had our fair share of hiccups and delays on that day but I’m so proud of the staff and volunteers who raced to get the ballroom and themselves ready before our guests arrived at 6.30pm. Our auctioneer tested Volunteer Suria’s prowess with the auction slides when he decided NOT to follow the agreed sequence but Suria rose to the occasion.
Weeks before the Ball, Donna burnt midnight oil and showed her artistic flair once again by designing our stylish souvenir program.
We also have many new volunteers like – Jennifer who managed the volunteers on duty, Claire and Jacqui who prepared the entire raffle, Anke, Vivian Wan, Daniella, Andrew our steadfast fundraisers, Robyn and Natasha our 2 youngest volunteers….. and many more.
It was a pleasure working with all of you and I look forward to repeating this success at WishBall 2016 with your support.
