Qayyum’s wish

Name : Qayyum
Age : 5 years old (2024)
Illness : b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Wish : To have a rideable fire truck

Qayyum may be only 5 years old but he is already a true hero within. Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, his days are filled with hospital visits, treatments and medication which left him anxious and pensive. Sadly the only time he is outdoors is when he and mum are travelling to the hospital.

Qayyum once saw firefighters in action when passing a local fire station. Since then he has been captivated and told his parents that he would like to be a firefighter when he grows up. Despite his illness, his dream has never faded.

Qayyum started his Wish day a little shy. That was until an abang bomba told him that firefighters must be brave. Without hesitation, he suited up in his custom firefighter uniform and just like a true firefighter, he participated in fire drills, rode in a real fire truck and put out a real fire.

With a big smile, Qayyum received his a rideable fire truck which he wished for, a symbol of his courage and reminder to one day join the ranks of the real-life heroes he admires.

A heartfelt thank you to the abang-abang bomba at Muar Fire and Rescue Station for welcoming Qayyum with open arms and showing him the bravery and kindness that define a true firefighter.

Ayra’s wish

Name : Ayra
Age : 7 years old (2024)
Illness : b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Wish : To have a bedroom makeover

Ayra’s nightmare began during what should have been a joyful family trip. When she and her family contracted Influenza A, everyone recovered within days, but not Ayra. Her condition showed no improvement, leaving her parents deeply worried. A series of tests, including blood work and a bone marrow extraction, revealed that Ayra had B Cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

As treatment took its toll, slowly draining the vibrancy from her life and dimming her once radiant spirit, Ayra wished for a bedroom makeover— replacing the plain white walls with a colourful hub that reflects her bright personality and her love for all things creative.

However, with the burden and steep cost of her medical treatment, Ayra’s dream bedroom had to be put on hold indefinitely…….until she met Make-A-Wish Malaysia!

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our dedicated volunteers who planned, painted, purchased furniture and decorated her room, Ayra’s bedroom now glows with bright yellow walls and furniture adorned with pink hearts. Her space is now a vibrant sanctuary, her safe haven— a place she can return home from hospital visits to dream of growing up and attending school soon.

We are honoured to see the Power of a Wish through Ayra’s eyes as she jumped with excitement upon entering this new safe space she calls her own.

Farish’s wish

Name : Farish
Age : 9 years old (2024)
Illness : acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Wish : To have a F1 remote control car

“I would like to be a policeman when I grow up! I’m light and fast enough to catch bad guys.” Farish said at the top of his lungs, embodying the soaring spirit of a child with big ambitions.

But at the beginning of 2024, Farish and his family’s lives took an unexpected turn when a stubborn fever left him pale, weak, and unrecognisable. Their world turned upside down when blood tests revealed the diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.

With the escalating cost of Farish’s medical treatment, the family found their resources, time and energy stretched thin, especially since they were also navigating the challenges of caring for his little brother Eicat, a special needs child.

In the midst of hospital visits and chemotherapy sessions, a remote-control toy car kept Farish connected with Eicat. The little car brought them closer than ever during Farish’s isolating medical journey, sparking Farish’s heartfelt wish: an F1 remote-control car for more moments of bonding.

On his wish day, upon arrival at the iconic Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Farish’s dream of speed came alive as he climbed into the Mercedes AMG Safety Car for a thrilling ride around the track. Every turn and burst of speed brought out a loud laughter from Farish!

The highlight of the day came when Farish’s wish was revealed—a surprise collection of Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren F1 remote-control cars, just for him. His eyes lit up as he envisioned the adventures he would have with his dad and Eicat.

Thank you to SIC CEO Shafriman Hanif, and his team for hosting Farish’s Wish Day and to Ibis Styles Hotel Sepang KLIA for hosting a delicious afternoon tea session for Farish and his family after a thrilling time at SIC!

Farish’s story is a powerful reminder that even in the face of the toughest battles, moments of hope and joy can shine through.

Putri Aisyah’s wish

Name : Putri Aisyah
Age : 4 years old (2024)
Illness : b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Wish : To have a rideable jeep

Instead of playtime with her friends and family, Aisyah now spends her days at the hospital battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Once a bubbly and joyful girl, she hardly laughed and her bright smiles turned to frowns with each treatment she endured. Aisyah talked about her ‘escape’ in a child size rideable jeep with two seats, with her as the driver and the other seat reserved for her little brother, Alif.

The moment Aisyah spotted her electric blue jeep, she jumped in excitement, temporarily forgetting her illness.

Without hesitation, she hopped into the driver’s seat, “Kakak boleh bawa Alif mana-mana!” she exclaimed, happy at the thought of having control and sharing her joy with Alif.

For Aisyah’s mother, Muliani, hearing her little girl’s laughter again was priceless— “I haven’t heard my baby laugh in so long… Thank you” she expressed. Granting a wish is more than fulfilling a child’s dream, it gives the family hope and strength which the illness took away.

Wish : To have a Nintendo Switch

Gaming may seem like a simple hobby but for Vedha, it is an escape from the hospital walls and his difficult reality.

Before falling sick, Vedha loved going to school, being around friends and coming home to his spend time with his brother. Vedha’s mum, Win, says wherever Vedha is, the room used to be filled with laughter.

That was until a stubborn fever came around and after weeks of clinic visits with no clear answers, Vedha was admitted to the hospital where doctors confirmed diagnosis of neuroblastoma.

Although he has since completed treatments, Vedha still needs to be closely monitored for possible cancer spreading to his lungs.

Since he fell sick, Vedha longed for any games to briefly ease his pain. Now, with his new Nintendo Switch, Vedha has a constant companion no matter where he is – at the hospital or resting at home.

Illness : Stage 4 neuroblastoma
Wish : To be a mermaid

As we celebrate our 1000th wish, we’re thrilled to share the story of Ayra, a brave 9-year-old who wished to be a mermaid!

Back in August 2021, Ayra’s world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. The next two years were filled with hospital visits and chemotherapy sessions. But through it all, Ayra found her escape in “The Little Mermaid,” watching Ariel’s underwater adventures over and over again.

On Ayra’s wish day, we pulled out all the stops for a royal mermaid-themed event, Pearl of Hope: A Royal Celebration at Sunway Lagoon’s Surf Beach. The highlight? A grand coronation ceremony by none other than our Royal Patron, Tengku Zatashah Idris. Ayra got to swim in the water with a stunning mermaid tail, alongside two other mermaids.
