Our Mission

It began with a single wish.

It all started in 1980 in Arizona, when 7 year old Chris Greicius, who was battling leukaemia, wanted nothing more than to become a police officer, to protect and save the lives of others.   Little did Chris know that his wish would inspire a movement that would transform millions of lives around the world.  Since then Make-A-Wish has granted over 500,000 wishes worldwide, serving critically ill children in nearly 50 countries on 5 continents through its 40 Affiliates.   

Make-A-Wish Malaysia is an Affiliate of Make-A-Wish International, the world’s largest wish-granting organisation. United by a shared mission to expand the reach of wish-granting and bring life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses. Wishes have the power to inspire children to look beyond their circumstances and limitations, give families strength to overcome their anxieties and unite communities in creating hope, strength and joy for children and their loved ones. Most importantly, a wish can improve a child’s quality of life, providing emotional strength throughout their medical journey and the possibility of a brighter future.

Make-A-Wish Malaysia has been working with select hospitals since 2010, bringing life changing wish experiences to critically ill children in Peninsula and East Malaysia.  With each wish, we bring  renewed strength and encouragement for the child and family we serve.
