Serene loves expressing her gratitude to the people around her. In true Serene style, she wished for something she’s been wanting to do for a long time – to bake desserts for doctors and nurses who have looked after her since her first day battling her illness. “I want to do this so I can encourage other patients that there’s always a silver lining! A little cheer can never hurt” explained the thoughtful teenager.
Serene started out her wish day at Parkroyal Collection Kuala Lumpur where she enjoyed a scrumptious lunch buffet and was then escorted to the back of the kitchen, where all the magic happens.
The moment when Serene stepped into the pastry kitchen, the Head of Pastry, Chef Nazeri Ismail, welcomed and presented her a chef uniform that fit her like a glove! During the session, the chef taught Serene how to bake brownies, cream puff and fruit tarts – her favourite desserts. The chef’s humor made her experience even better. Serene also learnt more about the chef, his experiences, and even his secret recipes. It was a very fruitful baking session for Serene!
With freshly baked desserts that were made with the most love, Serene went straight to the hospital to deliver the yummy baked goods to her doctors and nurses. Personal messages on the gift boxes made her doctors and nurses smile from ear-to-ear, knowing how much this teenager has been through since the beginning of her medical battle.
